The general framework of a plan to establish the “National Fund for Supporting the Development of Iranian Cinema” was approved at the fifth meeting of the Supreme Council of Cinema, held in the presence of the First Vice President.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Cinema Organization, the fund is intended to attract financial resources and establish a mechanism for sustainable financing aimed at developing Iran’s audiovisual industry.
Under the resolution, the Cinema Organization has been tasked with reviewing the various details and aspects of the plan and submitting a comprehensive version within two months.
The meeting, held the previous day, also addressed the follow-up of earlier resolutions concerning taxation, insurance and housing for cinema professionals. Other items included the establishment of a committee to follow up on the council’s resolutions, with the participation of relevant officials, as well as the approval of a proposal to establish a Family Cinema Working Group.
In addition, based on the decisions made at the meeting, the body’s name was changed from the “Cinema Council” to the “Supreme Council of Cinema.” It was also decided that all correspondence would henceforth be conducted under the new title.
