Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi returned to Iran following his success at the Busan International Film Festival, where he was welcomed by Raed Faridzadeh, head of the Cinema Organization of Iran.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Iranian Cinema Organization, Majidi arrived in Iran early on Saturday, October 17, after his latest film, Midday Meal, won the Best Film Award at the 31st Busan International Film Festival. He was received by Faridzadeh at Imam Khomeini International Airport.
Masoud Najafi, advisor to the president of the Cinema Organization and director general of its Public Relations Department, and Seyed Sadegh Lavasani, public relations director of the Farabi Cinema Foundation, accompanied Faridzadeh in welcoming the filmmaker.
Majidi dedicated his award to the brave people of Iran. His speech at the festival’s closing ceremony received widespread coverage in international media, once again drawing the attention of the global film press to the human consequences of the war against Iran.
